FROM WATER TO WAVES

“From Water To Waves” examines a hypothetical situation in which the Linachtalsperre Dam is not a barrier, but a transformational point between water and sound: as if this dam doesn’t stop the river but translates it’s water into sound. How would this river of sound flow through the valley? Would it follow the natural progression downstream, or would it bounce throughout the hills, dissipating into the ether? Would it bubble through slowly, or crash down with a powerful force? And when it’s all done, can we translate this sound back into water?

“From Water To Waves” was made entirely out of sounds recorded in and around the Linachtalsperre Dam.  Microphones included homemade hydrophones, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and traditional lapel microphones.
