DISSOLVING SOUNDS

Geoff Stern Art Space / Experimental Sound Studio / Various Online

“Dissolving Sounds” is a performance work that uses a collection of homemade microphones to explore the sonic environment as an alchemical space. Simple toys, plasma balls, bike lights, spinning tops, neon tubes, fans, etc. become transformed: their imperceptible sounds, ultrasonic frequencies, electromagnetic vibrations, and colored light emissions transmogrified into a dense and abstract sonic landscape.

Homemade mics include: contact mics, hydrophones, electromagnetic mics, ultrasonic mics, solar mics, sewing needle mics, clamp mics, and more.
